Things started off with a bang in chapter one as David finds a body while his training unit runs through combat simulations. He’s horrified when he realizes who it is, especially when the corpse gets up and walks away. As talk of another attack by the Antaris Nation looms over Civilization, David realizes that Peter and Mimi’s underground are in great danger. He pulls together the recon team that survived Ballese and together, they have to figure out how to thwart an Antaran attack on Civilization (or risk the Antarans reaching Sol’s outer edges) and keep Peter safe as they try to figure out why the Antarans are so focused on the young recombinant.
Part of that investigation brings Reclamation Specialists Dr. Jeannette Kingston and Dr. Kai Drew to Civilization who have been analyzing recombinant genetics by batch numbers. What they discover is terrifying and it will propel Peter into the crosshairs of UCOE’s Armed Forces and the Antaran caregivers.
